Mobina Galore

Winnipeg by way of BC duo Jenna Pristner (vocals/guitars) and Marcia Hanson (drums/vocals) unleashes five dirty yet polished tracks on its latest offering. Opening cut Mistake is a plea for forgiveness wrapped in an anthem, while Take Me Away showcases the Joan Jett meets Kim Deal cadence in Priestner’s beautiful vocal snarl. The themes of heartache continue on Years of Lies, wherein the grinding guitars are the perfect juxtaposition to the aforementioned vocal goodness. Having caught Mobina Galore live recently, this writer can attest that the EP is a solid representation of a band that truly embraces the simple formula of Rock n’ Roll. Easily compared to ‘90s favourite Jale or Veruca Salt, Mobina Galore will likely bring in the nostalgia crowd while finding new fans in boys and girls of all ages. In the end though, it’s the personal songwriting that will set this duo apart from the rest of the pack.
