VESELY COUTURE - Tea & Crumpets

You know when rave DJs slow down the music to give everyone a chance to stop and breathe between sessions of flailing? That’s what the majority of Vesely Couture’s Tea & Crumpets is. Especially the first track, Euphoric, which is eight minutes of precisely that. Dayglow tows the line, adding a light dub influence. Sex on the Foundation is where the CD starts to pick up a little bit and becomes enjoyable electronic music. Unfortunately, this track is only two-and-a-half minutes long and by this point I was already turned off by the 15 minutes’ worth of the first two tracks. Scram is nine minutes long, but relatively enjoyable. In point of fact, the most enjoyable tracks on the CD are the ones that spare the ho-hum vocals and failing lyrics. To be fair, I do feel Vesely Couture has potential. It just wasn’t realized in this album.
