Ooh, foxy lady

The Foxy Shoppe makes women feel beautiful, no matter their body type

Walking through the pink door at The Foxy Shoppe will undoubtedly lead to a fun and truly empowering experience for anyone who loves glamour, glitter and all things girly.

The store - located in the Exchange District at 87 King St. - carries retro pin-up fashions, jewelry and purses made by local artists, as well as shoes, lingerie and even pasties.

While there’s something to look at in every corner, owner Pamela Fox keeps the small store open and inviting, never crowded with overwhelming racks of merchandise.

When choosing models for her fashion shows she has an open attitude, sending out a call on her Facebook page and accepting anyone who volunteers, with a few local burlesque artists thrown in for good measure.

Fox is all about making her customers feel sexy, no matter their age, weight or comfort zone.

It’s impressive how she can take a quick look at someone and choose the perfect outfit for them in mere moments. Also, Foxy Shoppe offers alterations on their garments so anyone can rock a perfect pin-up look.

Stepping into my thigh high pantyhose with the visible seam up the back, I got a swagger in my step that lasted for days.

For those who shy away from the spotlight, the charming boutique offers unique experiences such as private shopping, in-store photo shoots, burlesque workshops and stagette parties.

As someone who has modeled their fashions before, I can say that Fox and her loyal customers are some of the most beautiful and supportive women you will ever meet.

For my outfit, Fox chose a skin-tight black number with hot pink trim, a miracle garment that accentuated and pushed up all that was good in the world while binding everything that need not be seen.

Stepping into my thigh-high pantyhose with the visible seam up the back, I got a swagger in my step that lasted for days after the event.

As frivolous as frilly little lacey things can seem, anyone can benefit from getting to know the amazing group of ladies that Fox has brought together.

And what’s wrong with a little frivolity?
