Winter can be a dull season for intimate fashion, especially in Winnipeg. All we see are parkas that leave absolutely everything to the imagination, and layers upon layers of wool that make you wonder why you even bothered buying that lacy push-up bra in the first place.

Not your baba’s clothing store
“A lot of the stuff I sell is more casual,” Rachael Poklitar tells me over coffee at The Good Will Social Club. It’s a freezing cold evening and traffic is slipping and sliding all over Portage Avenue. “I personally don’t dress super fancy. I just kind of mish and mash what I like. So I take that approach with the shop, too. Wearing vintage in a modern way.”

One person’s junk is this girl’s goddess jewelry
Samantha Selci’s jewelry line Prairie Solstice is made for goddesses.
“I’m down with jewellery and I’m down with beautifying yourself,” says 23-year-old Selci, who’s also a music student at the University of Manitoba. “I think women deserve to feel like goddesses, but it is ridiculous the amount of jewelry that’s being manufactured brand new when there is so much - piles and piles and piles of beautiful jewelry everywhere - that can be reused.”
