The story “Winnipeg’s Chinese Falun Gong community speaks out against Bodies… The Exhibition” in the Nov. 12 issue of The Uniter (page 5) contained incorrect information. We stated that the Falun Gong is a religious community. Falun Gong is, in fact, a spiritual practice loosely organized without any religious forms or worship.

The campus news brief “Randy Kobes leaves legacy to U of W undergrads” in the Sept. 30 issue of The Uniter (page 6) contained incorrect information.
The poster session has always been open to undergraduate students, and there were seven winners, not three: First place went to Michael Lang (Physics Department), second place went to Ian Taylor (Physics Department), third place went to Dylan Buhr (Physics Department) and four Honourable Mention prizes were awarded to Tim Chau (Physics Department), Shanleigh MacKenzie (Psychology Department), Sam Voth (Chemistry Department) and Wan Wang (Psychology Department).

Also, the story “Endorsements liven up civic campaign” in the Oct. 21 issue of The Uniter (page 5) contained incorrect information. We stated that Ross Eadie had not received a formal party endorsement. The Manitoba NDP did in fact endorse four candidates in the civic election: Ross Eadie, Jenny Gerbasi, Shaneen Robinson and Keith Bellamy.

The review of the Matthew Barber CD True Believer in the Oct. 28 issue of The Uniter (page 13) was written by Alex Krosney.

Also in that issue, the Fashion Streeter (page 20) was photographed by Brittany Hildebrandt. Incorrect bylines appeared in both cases.

In the May 28 issue of The Uniter, the story “Wondering where Winnipeg’s women are” (page 3) stated that civic campaign contributions are not tax-deductible to the contributor. The campaign expenses and contributions guide from the City of Winnipeg was cited as backing up that fact. The Uniter neglected to mention that there is a comparable cash rebate, also included in the guide, that individuals can receive from the City of Winnipeg for all civic campaign contributions they make.

-The first RebELLEs gathering was in 2008 in Montreal.
-There will not be an official march in Manitoba for the World March of Women (WMW). The International Women’s Day march this past March 8 was part of the global WMW kick-off, but the official WMW march is taking place in Quebec on Oct. 17.
-Because the 2011 RebELLEs will be women-only, the same goes for those involved in organizing the gathering. It will be open to those who identify and live as women and those who were born female and claim no particular gender identification, or who identify as two-spirit or genderqueer.

In the Sept. 9 issue of The Uniter, the comments article “Practically speaking” (page 8) incorrectly implied that the Classics department at the University of Winnipeg has seen falling enrolment.
