About the show:
Terra et Populus is a look in mixed media, from two points of view, of the land, the people, the variety of arts and cultures, the animals, the birds and the flora and fauna. These are some of our interpretations of the terra et populus of Manitoba.
About the artists:
Kathleen Hamann Buckoski was born and raised in the interior of British Columbia where she was educated and began teaching art. After moving to Manitoba in 1982 she continued her career teaching and began to exhibit her work in private homes and galleries in Manitoba.
Her work reflects a realistic, yet imaginative style with her first passion being the beautiful and sometimes harsh landscapes of South Eastern British Columbia. Her subject matter has of course expanded since moving to Manitoba and traveling around North America.
Kathleen mainly enjoys working with water colour, acrylic and conte but also enjoys experimenting in mixed media, printmaking and fiber arts. She is now retired from teaching and continues to exhibit in various galleries across Canada.
Judith Panson was born in England and has lived in Manitoba since 1965. She received her art degrees from London and Plymouth Universities in England and has taught art at all levels of education from elementary through college. She has won awards in water media, printmaking and fibre in juried shows in Manitoba and Ontario and has had shows both solo and group in Canada, Mexico, New Zealand and the U. S. A.
Her work which usually depict the natural world, hangs in both corporate and private collections in Australia, Canada, England, Mexico, Switzerland and the United States of America.
