Alliance Française French Film Festival is back for its third edition with a brand new theme: L'Amour et la Violence (Love and Violence).
Organized by Alliance Française du Manitoba and Winnipeg Cinematheque as a part of the 22nd edition of the French Language and Francophonie week, the Alliance Française French Film Festival is an invitation to discover films from different times and places and experience the sophisticated, vibrant and daring films from France. All films are shown at Winnipeg Cinematheque and come with English subtitles.
This year again, Winnipeg director, producer and DJ Damien Ferland was the guest programmer. His selection includes films like Wages of Fear (1955) by Henri-Georges Clouzot or The Stopover (2016) by Delphine and Muriel Coulin, which received the 2016 Cannes Film Festival Prize for Best Screenplay – Un Certain Regard. It also features Western-Canada premières such as Daguerrotype by Kiyoshi Kurosawa and Oh La La Pauline! by Émilie Brisavoine. The Festival will also present four short films directed by local filmakers Danielle Sturk, Matthew Rankin, Caroline Monnet and Alek Rzeszowski will be screened before some of the evening projections.
