The Hylozoists

Consider The Hylozoists’ new album, L’Ile De Sept Villes, a score to a movie not yet made.

The Toronto instrumental band defines their sound with a cherry, happy-go-lucky pop/orchestral rhythm that will either make you want to skip as you walk, or wish the album was the theme song of your life.

The band is a combination of composer Paul Aucoin’s past musical workings with a variety of artists, which can clearly be heard in tracks such as Bubbles & Wheezy and Parents Don’t Let Your Children Grow up to Be Compressed.

The band, which will either make you think of Final Fantasy game music or Sufjan Stevens (or both), definitely have a fresh sound.
