SWEATSHIRT WEATHER

Delivering on their moniker, there’s a certain warmth that suits the chill of autumn in Sweatshirt Weather’s brand of electro-pop. The Indiana band’s EP With High Hopes has a new-age space vibe, rife with lush soundscapes of sweeping synths, foot-tapping beats and minimalist guitars. While the poppyness of Escapade doesn’t fit in with the feel of the rest of the album (it’s still a good song, don’t get me wrong), the strength of the album lies on tracks like sweeping opener Fall and 106 and the rhythmic urgency of Best Intentions. The gang vocals on Live It Up, an ode to taking chances, serve as a nice, relaxing end to an album you’ll want to listen to all over again. Though relatively young, Sweatshirt Weather are penning catchy songs miles away from other bands trying to do the same thing. Download the EP at tinyurl.com/Uniter-Sweatshirt.
