Is Winnipeg green?

  • Amy Henderson, first year, general arts

I think we can do better. I just don’t hear enough about [environmental issues] in the city. I keep hearing about rapid transit but nothing is happening.

  • Amy Van Aarsen, second year, education and politics

I think they are trying but they’re not doing enough. The university is, but not necessarily the government.

  • Jordan Zelinski, second year, kinesiology

I feel like there are many different stages in the climate. The Earth has seen an ice age, this is another stage in that process.

  • Lucas Penner, employee, Powerland Computers

The city is doing a lot, but they could do more. I would like to see more reuse in city recycling strategies. For example, reusing more materials in the Brady Landfill. Reuse is key to computer and electronics recycling.

  • Stephenie Zborowski, employee, MTS Centre

We have a lot of measures, like we have this new Manitoba Hydro building, but I don’t think Hydro is even doing enough. Sorry Winnipeg, there are greener cities.

  • Brianna Ly, employee, Starbucks

The city isn’t doing enough. They could do more with transit, reduce fares, encourage car pooling. They could even do more to encourage using reusable mugs instead of paper cups.
