Karl Wolf, The Artist

You’ll have to wait until the Nov. 26 issue of The Uniter to read my review of Nightlife, the new album by Montreal-based, Lebanese-Canadian pop artist Karl Wolf. I thought I’d take this opportunity to share my five favourite lines from the disc, though.

I’ve retained the exact punctuation, capitalization and spelling as found in the CD’s lyric jacket, so as not to unnecessarily filter Wolf’s artistry.

In no particular order, my favourite lyrics from Nightlife are:

(1) “Wine pon riddim an no care who no like it!”

(2) “Don’t get me started on movies / Cuz I’ll go on for days till you fall asleep girl / I remember how Karate kid made me / Feel like I was invincible.”

(3) “You closed the book and turned the pages.”

(4) “You might think I’m over you / No girl! you’re the baddest / Even though I’m in love with you / I had to change my status..”

(5) “I messaged you / You ignored me / I wake up screaming.”

Karl Wolf performs in Winnipeg at Canad-Inns Transcona on Monday, Nov. 30. Visit www.karlwolf.com.
