The Furr - How Fortunate You Are

Like their name, this band’s mix of musical influences is unusual, including Against Me!, the Foo Fighters, Bruce Springsteen and the Dixie Chicks. However, they actually mesh together quite well, and indeed their brand of indie rock far surpasses the sounds of those bands. Matt Dyck’s vocals are similar to that of Paul Banks from Interpol. (The band is rounded out by Spencer Chambers on drums, Darcy Penner on bass and vocals and Matt Austman on guitar, vocals and synthesizer.) The difference between this three-song EP and their debut, Meat is Murder, is that their focus has become clearer, musically and lyrically. With a variety of interesting musical influences and sounds, they have defined themselves more prominently with such upbeat indie punk songs as You’re So Popular and Crutches.
