Ottawa band The Murder Plans recently released their first full-length album of awe-inspiring lyrics and mellow sounds. The deep and somewhat raspy voice of lead vocalist Connor McGuire adds maturity to a band that sounds like it’s already made up of musical veterans. The highly anticipated album is nothing fancy but sometimes simplicity is best. The music does speak for itself when it comes to these rockers, which leaves no need for flashy sounds and outrageous lyrics. Tell A Lie discusses self-struggle and the album as a whole mixes up life experiences: “I think there’s something wrong with me / I cannot tell a lie and that’s a lie.” The Murder Plans have toured with the likes of The Sadies and Hey Rosetta! to name a couple. The mellow sounds are sure to lure you in regardless of your familiarity with this rock genre.
