This Uniter 30 returning best blog champ has been at it for seven years. Photographer Bryan Scott describes his blog as a space for all Winnipeg images.

“For me it’s just second nature now, I’ve been doing this for a long time,” Scott says.

Since the last time Winnipeg Love Hate was highlighted in the Uniter 30, Scott’s become a dad, topped bestseller lists with Stuck in the Middle - a joint literary venture with Winnipeg Free Press writer Bartley Kives, and given the look of Winnipeg Love Hate a refresh.

“I have a five-month-old daughter now, so I do as much as I can, which is less than before,” Scott says. Still, he gets out shooting three or four times a week.

His latest blog post includes top picks of 2014 as curated by likes on flickr. Consequently, Scott’s own personal favourite is also the top pick of the masses - a shot he took of the Canadian Museum for Human Rights from the roof of the Inn at the Forks on Canada Day. The Tower of Hope is lit up in red and looks stunningly vibrant against the downtown night sky backdrop.

Other top picks for the year include shots of various downtown streetscapes and one that speaks volumes to the blog name itself - a straight-on shot of a store called “Discount Everything”.

So which is it, really - love or hate?

“It’s definitely more love,” Scott says. “The fact that I’m 40 and still living here? Yeah. Love definitely outweighs.”

He goes on to describe some of what many of us love about this place: it’s comfortable, there’s at least one of everything so you can find what you need, and it’s affordable.
