Re: Is the NDP taking over Winnipeg?

Good article.
Every councillor has political ties, some more than others. Hugh McFadyen was also Katz’s campaign leader during his first election. Of course the Conservatives have an interest in civic issues. If they didn’t they’d be stupid because it dramatically affects the province and how it runs.
We should expect that they’ll probably have political ties and accept it as a fact. Being interested in city politics means they’re also interested in other levels of politics because there’s so much overlap. Anybody with vision has ideology - they go hand in hand.
Being affiliated with a political party doesn’t mean they have to make all their decisions by partisan politics. Some councillors are probably sick of partisan politics. Maybe that’s what attracted them to city politics in the first place. But to suggest they are not affiliated with political parties is simply wrong and misleading.
