ACRES OF LIONS

It is very evident that Jimmy Eat World is one of this Victoria, B.C. band’s influences. The majority of the songs from Collections sound like they could have been a cut from one of the former’s recent albums. Acres of Lions employs similar build-ups and breakdowns, harmonies and lyrics to the Jim Adkins-fronted band. This formula has been tried before, and it feels passé. Perhaps I would have dug this album a few years ago, but now it feels so familiar, and nothing makes Collections stand out. Acres of Lions missed the emo bandwagon by a few years.
