Local pop act Mise en Scene has hit the road in support of their debut LP, “Desires Despair.” In just two years, the energetic duo comprised of guitarist/vocalist Stefanie Blondal Johnson and drummer Jodi Dunlop have soared in recognition and success, already releasing an EP—”Late Night Triple Feature”—to critical acclaim.

Boasting packed club shows across Canada, Mise en Scene was also featured in Toronto’s North by Northeast Festival (NXNE) and Canadian Music Week (CMW), even earning a 2011 residency at the Banff Centre for the Arts.

Now, the group is slated to release their debut full-length album, “Desires Despair” on November 13, 2012 through Winnipeg label Pipe & Hat. From jangling 60s pop to early punk influences, the record has already turned heads after early listens.

Through the magic of the internet, The Uniter, along with Mise en Scene, bring you the band’s tour blog—complete with antics, tomfoolery, and plenty of PBR. Enjoy.

Calgary

- played to a great crowd at Broken City. Had lots of friends show their support. It
brought tears to my eyes.
- saw more Winnipegers at our show in Calgary then we do in Winnipeg.
- carried our gear 10 blocks with our friends and a can PBR. #yolo
- Jodi finds fun in a pillow she found on the street, played soccer for the first time since
she was on the Orange Team in Gimli.

My beautiful old vintage beetle boots (which the hipsters now call Chelsea boots) have ripped!!! There is no more soul in my sole!!! My heart will not go on.

Banff

- Jodi and I get Mexican and go to a movie.
- my pants rip and I am forced to go to The Gap to buy a new pair. This happens in Banff, it’s like the mountains don’t like my mad style. And every time I go to that store I keep hearing Ryan Gosling say from Crazy, Stupid, Love “be better then The Gap”. I wish I could.

- met Bob at the Rose and Crown where we rocked a great set. Very nice English fellow who actually came to Canada from Germany many years ago when he followed a beautiful blonde woman with “great tits” from GIMLI MANITOBA. He told me that when he came to visit her and met her fiancée, he knew the gig was up. I asked for her name, he wouldn’t tell me. He was afraid I might be her daughter. Then he bought our CD, very nice chap.

Stay tuned to the Uniter for more from Mise en Scene as they travel across the country in search of new adventures, great music, and memorable people.
