New MLCC regulations

by Ethan Cabel (News Assignment Editor)

What do you think of new MLCC regulations to allow alcohol to be served in certain cineplexes?

Alex Wenger

I think it’s discriminatory toward the other movie theatres in the city.

– Alex Wenger, third-year student, rhetoric

Jesse Klyn

I think that’s crazy. That’s wild. I can see a lot of great dates happening there.

– Jesse Klyn, first-year student, general degree

Joe Wasylycia-Leis

I think it’s mildly disappointing that alcohol is permeating every corner of society, and the beer is going to be something like 10 bucks, so it’s just another way for movie corporations to gouge our pockets.

– Joe Wasylycia-Leis, research assistant, University of Winnipeg geography department

Mohammed Subhan

I think they already have a law like that in the United States, so I think it’s a good thing as long as people don’t drink and drive and don’t get too rowdy.

– Mohammed Subhan, fourth-year student, business administration

Sheldon Birnie

I think it’s great. I love drinking in theatres and movies are boring without beer.

– Sheldon Birnie, assistant editor, Stylus Magazine

Zafar Sacranie

How much are they going to charge us for it? Let me bring my own!

– Zafar Sacranie, employee, Petrified Sole

Shopper’s Drug Mart expansion

Surafel Kuchel

“I think it’s going to be more packed, that area, so I won’t support it; I would rather it stayed the same. I don’t think people will get benefit with it being big or small as long as it provides the service that people need, and there is a Safeway beside it, so I don’t see any point expanding it.”
