US is a non-profit arts organization that is dedicated to the Aboriginal arts community and the arts community at large. Through it’s programming, US promotes discourse about contemporary Aboriginal art on local, national, and international levels. Through this discussion, it brings together Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal communities, knowing that contemporary art is an important and empowering tool for Indigenous peoples. We are dedicated to meeting the needs of artists by providing a vehicle for artistic expression in all disciplines and at all levels by taking a leadership role in the cultivation of Indigenous art.
50 to 500 is a fundraising event for our gallery to enlist new members, and open our gallery up to new artists at any level of art practice and culture. The event consists of an opening reception Saturday, November 16th from 8 to 11pm to celebrate an evening with amazing art from Manitoban artists, as well as artists from across Canada and Internationally. And included in the reception's excitement celebrated artist Rebecca Belmore will be at the gallery launching her new book "Wordless - The Performance Art of Rebecca Belmore". This is a great event to find amazing artwork, connect with the art scene and support the gallery and artists this holiday season.
