Media Arts Residency Program

We are seeking applicants for the 2019-2020 MAR cycle and are offering two streams of application: Category I is directed to artists who have not yet produced or exhibited a new media work in a professional context and we encourage those working in other disciplines to apply. Category II is for artists who have already established a background in media arts and who need support for their next project.

Successful applicants are awarded year-long access to our extensive mobile equipment and editing facilities, technical and educational sessions as well as the opportunity to publicly present the work created in the program. See our website for details about the production resources we have to offer.

Video Pool Media Arts Centre supports the production, education, presentation and distribution of media-based artwork, including but not limited to, sound and video, multi or single channel, installation, expanded cinema and experimental music, electronic, arduino and computer-programming and body-based performance incorporating audio / video, just to name a few. One way we help artists is through access to the tools and spaces necessary to complete work in these streams. Our long-running Media Arts Residency program is a great opportunity for artists interested in learning or developing techniques in these. It has been both a stepping stone and a boon for a long list of artists, numerous of whom have gone to have careers in the media arts.
