Do you have something to say and a voice that needs to be heard? Are you itchy to share your words that have been sitting in a journal? Have you heard of slam poetry, but didn't know 'The Peg has it's own community?
The 2018 Winnipeg Poetry Slam takes place every 3rd Wednesday at the Handsome Daughter. We kick it off on January 17 with a feature from Montreal's Alasdair!
Sign up for the no pressure open mic and the slam competition is at 7pm. Anyone can sign up, but remember that 2 poems are required for competition (one for each round).
The open mic starts at 7:30, and the slam is at 8!
The slam season qualifies 4 spoken word poets to qualify to compete at the Canadian Festival of Spoken Word this fall. Check out our website for info on slam rules, and how to take part as an audience judge!
