Allow me to Illustrate by Dan Hawksworth

The use of illustrations, visuals, info graphics and other tools are a common way of trying to get across complex points and to show relationships. Metaphor, quotes and imagery have always been a big part of how I express myself, in my own “internal world” and often to those around me to illustrate my point, and this will help bring to life some of the elements that make up, and allow me to illustrate, who I am.
As I have explored further and further into the visual arts, I find myself constantly drawn back to the world of illustration, applying new techniques and trying new tools. With each new piece I am trying to improve my own skills while bringing to life ideas, concepts, feelings as well as playing with pop culture, history, mythology and spiritualism.
This show brings together original works ranging from ink paintings, to pen only illustrations to paintings with subjects ranging from the abstract, monsters, spiritualism, superheroes, and my own satirical look at modern life with my character Dee Dragon.
Dan Hawksworth is a Winnipeg born and raised artist who uses his art to let his imagination run free on canvas, paper, illustration board and other materials as he pays tribute to the heroes of popular culture and explores the realms of imagination. Dan works with inks on various media (paper, illustration board, and canvas) either as solely ink based paintings or illustrations, or to bring life and vibrancy to his acrylic works on canvas. Dan also has created wire and stone based jewelry as part of his artistic endeavours.
Primarily a self-taught artist, he has attended workshops as a member of Cre8ery to learn new techniques and broaden his horizons since joining as a member in the Fall of 2013. He has shown his work as part of the Cre8ery’s Members gallery, as a part of group shows in Winnipeg at various locations. He has also been a presence at C4 Central Canadian Comic Con’s Artists Alley since 2014. His works have been sold locally and internationally and Dan maintains an active online presence on Instagram (@danhawk333) and Facebook (Dan Hawksworth’s Artistic Endeavours). Dan lives and works in Winnipeg, and has maintained a studio at cre8ery since 2014.
